War of 1812 Essay Example for Free
War of 1812 EssayThe War of 1812 was a war that lasted for both years that helped the United States to firmly and officially establish its independence. afterwards finishing with the concern of France, England turned its attention over to the United States. At first, the United States did non want to dawdle to war and fighting (Doc. B) but rather sort out their issues economicallybecause England had seized all ships that did not stop in the British port forwards heading to their other European destinations, Congress passed the Embargo Act and then the Non-Intercourse Act, allowing trade with all nations except France and England. Then, England refused to allow this trade to occur, so America had to resort to war. The Northeastern Federalists were not in favor of war, but the Republicans ultimately won the majority vote in Congress to declare warthe War of 1812 (Doc. G). During this war, America was real concerned with light uping control over land in this expanse as well as in Canada, but at the same time Americans requisite to moderate themselves against their strong British enemies. Either way, America had to abandon its position of neutrality (Doc. C).During the war, Britain was very effective in fighting the Americans during many battles, so we mandatory to defend ourselves in every way possible, and often we were successful. In addition, America treasured to take revenge on the British for taking people from American ships and forcing them to work in the British Navy. The British were able to make their way via water to Washington, D.C. and burn down many parts of the city. After weakening the capital, they restrain off to Baltimore Harbor but Fort McHenry had al effectuate blocked their path, so the British actually had to attack from afar, which ended up not being so effective. America also blocked the British from success in the Battle of Plattsburgh. The United States was successful in capturing Lake Ontario and Lake Eerie, causing the m to have very easy chafe to Canada. By being able to enter Canada, William Henry Harrison led the soldiers to kill Tecumseh in the Battle of Thames, making this a great victory over the inwrought Americans. This does seem like an unnecessary battle done completely out of greed for control, but the defeat of the Creeks (allies of Tecumseh) in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend was adjuvant for the Americans in that Andrew Jackson led his men to destroy the tribe because they had been attacking whites along the Floridian border, and we annexed asection of Florida (Doc. D). Although the Indians may have thought that the Americans only wanted to take over their lands (Doc. F), America was not out to hurt the Indianswe actually wanted to be on good terms with thembut Madison made them alive(predicate) that if it is necessary, Americans will fight them in order to protect their own well-beings (Doc. E).Ending the War of 1812 was the Battle of New Orleans, when the British were planning to a ttack, but Andrew Jackson was ready with his men to destroy their enemies, and they were victorious. The War of 1812 officially ended with the Treaty of Ghent, which stated that America did not gain Canada, that impressments would not stop, and that America would have to return near land to the Indians (this statement was not really obeyed). But, a few other small treaties were written that allowed America to trade freely with England. All of the various battles said(prenominal) except for the Battle of Thames were ones that were instigated by the British and the Americans saw no other way to deal with their enemies but to defend themselves. This does not connote that the Americans fought this war in the first place out of greed or land hunger.Although the British did make many attacks on the United States during the War of 1812 and Americans did indeed need to defend themselves, America did not have entirely pure intentions (defense and struggle for complete independence were not the only reasons). During this rather pointless war, America had hoped they would annex Canada, and that is why the Battle of Thames occurred. The United States also wanted to cede Florida, hence the Battle of Horseshoe Bend. In addition, because the Republicans held the majority in Congress, President Madison felt he needed their support (Southern and Western states). The opinion of these states, expressed by Henry Clay (a War Hawk), was that the country needed to go to war because they wanted to gain land and they were concerned over the falling prices of agricultural products and therefore the restriction on trade. America entered this war caring only about the white citizens and not really about how the Indians would be affected by their hopes for the end results of the war.Americans did enter the war with hopes of annexing land, but the end result was completely different from the initial goals. After much unnecessary fighting, America left the war victorious in her own waythe c ountry was finally completely free to do as she pleased, and the country was officially independent of any and all other foreign powers.

Malaysian airline Essay Example for Free
Malaysian airline EssayPurposes In oecumenical, a signs constitution of Airlines telephoner might be very cardinal in the eye of heap (society). In fact, fall guy is knock over as a promise to customers setting up expectations and with a strong brand it deliver on what it promises by the development of a strong study (Aaker 2009, p. 3). This approach seems particularly well suited to the nature of Airlines Company, in which their brands character as image keep be describe as a very important aspect. The goal of this acquire is to assess and analyses on the implication of accident to the reputation of Malaysia Airlines (MAS). In this project, I leave alone explore how the reputation of MAS is affected, aft(prenominal) the accident on 8 litigate 2014 (BBC 2014). In particular, I go forth focus on how MASs reputation and brand is significantly damaged by the disappearance of Flight MH370 and how to fix and course their reputationand brands image after the acciden t happen. Therefore, the questions arise on how to convince and ensure the safety of MAS in their future operations. Also, the study leave examine, test and attempt to measure the trust level of a customers opinion (the situational approach) towards MAS reputation after the calamity occurred. Background In this age, reputation and brand is become one of essential part of business environment. According to Brigham (2010) claims a businesss most valuable asset is its good name, brand and reputation, as a result brand reputational value is irreplaceable and company must protect it (Brigham 2010, p. 1). Hence, the accident on Flight MH370 is apparently affected the brand and reputation of MAS. As a result, I choose this topic, since it was the current issue in the eye of people around the world, due to the Malaysia Airlines Flight MH 370 went lacking(p) slight than an hour after take off. Also, the other reason Im interested to select this issue, because I believe this accident will give a huge impact which can tarnish to the business reputation of MAS. Thus, this topic is important issue now, because it not just involves the company itself, but it related to internationalist accident. Further more than, I will conduct my study in a literature review, observe the ecumenic people discussion regarding MH370 Flight incident, and take a keep abreast and reference randomly in Sydney closely the mystery of disappearance of MH370.Scope I will engage in literature review, in methodicalness to hoard up secondary data which is available on the news over a six-week period, from 1 April to 13 May 2014 for approximately 6 hour per week. I will typically observe the discussion of general people regarding the mystery of missing knock off MH370 and stay around ten to fifteen minutes in order to observe other people perspectives in the mien they talk, feel and express rough MAS reputation after the accident occurred. On whatsoever days I whitethorn come at other tim es of the day for survey. In this case, I will make a questionnaire regarding the people perspectives generally of MAS reputation after the MH370 Flight incident. This questionnaire will be given to a random people whom I meet in Sydney (city area) and I will distribute the questionnaire also by email and other social networking sites. Moreover, I will schedule structuredinterviews, but I will interview randomly to a general people in Sydney as informal question regarding their opinion and judgement about MAS reputation after the missing plane MH370, as needed to clarify and provide insight perspective of MAS reputations value into specific conversations.Theoretical framework I will be guided most generally by the concept of branding in the International merchandise field, since branding is develop a company reputation in long term and it may be consider as one of the most important decisions made by selling managers (Kohli, 1997, p. 206). The concept of branding leads to build a reputation in the mind of consumer as company image (identity) as seen from the outside and it about company brand is who they are, what is their strength, integrity and reputation, so its not simply on how company logo is displayed, but or else than that, it involves the emotional and intellectual response to tar take in audiences (Stine 2008, p. 2). The corporeal reputation can be consider as corporate image which is content identify, image, prestige, goodwill, esteem and standing (Wartick2002 as cited in Dolphin 2004, p. 81). Also, the corporate reputation is most influenced by the actions of an organization rather than a successful of PR campaign (Lewis 2001, p. 31).Consequently, based on research a good reputation allows a company to easily attract customers companies by the establishment of reputation for delivering high-quality products and service (Ngwese and Zhang 2007, p. 30). Research show that a firms reputation is consider to the success or failure of its brands, so it is very important for a firm to maintain or advance their reputation (Herbig and Milewicz 1993, p. 18). In addition, research show a good corporate reputation leads firms to enhance financial and market performance, as a result the corporate reputation appears to emerge as a critical dimension of benchmarking of a firm performance (Lee and Roh 2012, p. 649). Hence, it is very important to get a good reputation company must be truthful, honest and consistent about the offering product or service in order to get a customer loyalty (Melewar, Nguyen and Abimbola 2013, p. 1).Brands and brandings have such a profound impact on the society as whole a not just on people who buy or used their product and service, thus an ethical brand enhances the firms reputation, since such a good reputationreinforces the brand in turn (Fan 2005, p. 341). However, any unethical behaviour of misconduct will seve intrust damage or even break the total intangible asset of company, so in order to retain a nd advance company name, marketing managers must concern and implement 6Cs of corporate marketing which are corporate identity, corporate branding, corporate communications, corporate image and corporate reputation must be integrated under the umbrella title of corporate marketing (Fan 2005, p. 341 and Balmer Greyser 2006, p. 730). According to Kotler and Keller (2006), brands are very important for both the company and the consumers, because brands indentify the source or maker of a product and service and allow consumers both individuals or organization to assign responsibility to a particular manufacture or distributor (Kotler and Keller 2006 as cited in Ngwese and Zhang 2007, p. 19).In this case, the brand reputation can be good or bad, strong or weak, its depend on how the company maintain their performance of reputation and it crystallizes how people feel about that reputation based on whatever information they have about the brand is regarded and respected (Ngwese and Zhang 2007, p. 31). I am exploring the meanings of brand reputation of MAS which is apparently affected after MH370 Flight incident. In this research, I hope to achieve the solution on how to fix and rebuilding the reputation of MAS Company and find the solution on how to get a trust back from customer itself. Also, find the way on how to maintain the customer loyalty after accident happen. Moreover, conclude the outcome on how far the correlations regarding brand reputation can affect the consumers perception. At the end, get the results regarding on the current level of customers confidence and trust in general people towards MAS reputation.Method1. Conduct a literature review on the implication of accident to the reputation of MAS.2. Observe the discussion of general people about the mystery of missing plane MH370, for example in collage or in a public place if somebody or friends talk about MAS Flight incident. Therefore, I will come closely and have a discussion with them in order t o observe their opinion and judgementregarding their own way on how they talk, feel and express their perspectives about MAS reputation.3. Interview randomly to a general people in Sydney (city area) to clarify and provide insight into conversations. Thus, I will try to conduct these interviews shortly after conversation of interest to a general people who discusses regarding the accident to the reputation of MAS. The common strategy for the interviews is to begin with full(a) and general questions and follow up on the interviewees response in order to capture the person meanings and get their perception and to avoid imposing my meanings on the interviewee. I will use structured interviews in order to ensure that answer can be reliably aggregated (consistent), also it can impinge on a large sample, so a representative sample is possible can be used to make statements. While the interviews will not be formal but it structured, it more likely as informal and the kinds of questions I will ask include the following a. What do you feel regarding the mystery of missing plane MH370? b. What do you think about the reputation of MAS after the accident occurred recently? c. What do you think that MAS should do in order to solve the tragedy of missing plane MH370? d. Do you still believe that MAS have a good reputation after the MH370 Flight incident? e. If you have a put on the line to travel going to overseas, do you still have trust to fly with MAS, despite the missing Flight MH370? f. Do you believe that MAS will improve their concern of security and safety as their offered the flying service in the future?4. Conduct a simple survey by a questionnaire paper regarding the people perspectives generally of MAS reputation after the MH370 Flight incident. This questionnaire will be given to a random people whom I meet in Sydney (city area) and I will distribute the questionnaire also by email and other social networking sites. The reasons, Im using questionnaires becau se its practical (I can do and conduct), realistic, sensible, handy, useful and convenient method. The outcome of conduct questionnaires can usually be quickly and easily interpret the result. 5. Write a research report that combines my brain of own horizon and perception of the relevant theory and previous research with the outcomes of my empirical research.Simple Gantt chartLimitations Time constraints (limitation) of the semester require less time than may be ideal for research study. By collecting secondary data for only six hours a week for six-weeks, there are bound to be very difficult to evaluate the accuracy of secondary data, and the quality of internal secondary data may be exaggerated or biased, since I rely on secondary data from the news. Being an outsider may also limit what is revealed to me. The interview and survey it can be difficult to obtain reliable data on attitudes, opinion and values (unless validated questionnaires are used).Delimitations I am choosing to not find the data from primary resources which is not available (not exist) and its not allowing the access of data. Thus, Im used the secondary data from the news which is available, in order to look a broader of perspective regarding the understanding of general people in society towards the reputation of MAS. It is often cheaper and it saves time than doing primary research. Additionally, I will not use unstructured interviews because a lot more time consuming in comparison to other research methods and it can be difficult to interview a large sample, affecting the datas generalise and representativeness, also prone to digression and much of the data collected might be worthless.ReferencesAaker, J 2009, Building Innovative Brands, Stanford Graduate School of Business, pp. 1-38, viewed 5April 2014, .Balmer, M.T.J and Greyser, S.A 2006, corporeal Marketing Integrating corporate identity, corporate branding, corporate communications, corporate image and corporate reputation, Europe an Journal of Marketing, Vol. 40 Iss 7/8, pp.730 741, Emerald, viewed 2 April 2014BBC 2014, absent Malaysia Airlines plane, News Asia, viewed 1 April 2014, Brigham, A. A Study Of Leonardo Da Vinci
A Study Of da Vinci Da VinciLeonardo Da Vincis diligent research, scientific concepts, and numerous inventions build to be crucial parts of the modern gentlemans gentleman. He has shown that with hard work and patience, anything can be achieved. Leonardo excelled in physical body, physics, engineering, and the arts.Leonardo Da Vinci followed the philosophy that the integrity would lead him, as opposed to himself leading the truth, meaning that he would not lie about the truth to become famous. With this plan, Leonardo pursued a eonian adventure to seek truth. To seek the truth, Leonardo went into anatomy, which was one of his strong points. Some say that Da Vinci is the father of anatomy and that his discoveries of the human clay greatly stirred the world, during the Renaissance and in present day. With his skills in drawing, Leonardo chose to sketch his discoveries, in anatomy, rather than writing about them like most other scientists in the 1500s. He thought that it was mo re efficient and was more easily explained. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.Leonardo Da Vinci greatly change magnitude the knowledge society has acquired over the years through countless dissections of the human body. His fascination for the human body led him to many great discoveries. It had been thought by the many Renaissance scientists that the male was more crucial than the female, but Da Vinci thought differently. Leonardo was credited as the first to dissect a womans body he found that the female body was much more complex than that of the male body. He then concluded that the female played the more key role in reproduction than the counterpart male. Because of his ambition, he went farther than dissecting a female, and was credited as the first to dissect a fetus. Through dissection, Leonardo silent the human body better than most other doctors and scientists of his time.Through his dissections, Leonardo discovered that major arteries had become clogged with substances in dead human bodies. Leonardo concluded that depending on what foods individuals ate, the substance was more likely to build up in the major arteries. This means that Leonardo Da Vinci discovered heart malady and could have saved millions of lives, but because he never published any of his discoveries and research, it was not taken seriously. One of the motives of his anatomical career was to hopefully find the billet of the soul within the human body. on with finding the soul, he drove to find the Golden Ratio which is a mathematical equation, dealing with the size and proportions of the body, which was thought to be common between all human creations. In the 1500s, dissection of the dead broke many religious rules and was frowned upon by society. It was also a very unsound activity because it was not sanitary. Because of the Black Plague, any job dealing with dead corpses was dangerous to the workers, but this did not stop Leonardo. Leonardo would let nothing alkali in his way to gain knowledge. Sadly in 1514, five years before he passed away, Leonardo was sent to the Vatican in Rome to be examined by the Pope and the cardinal staff. Every note he had taken in his pursuit of anatomical success was brought along and also examined. Leonardo was unofficially being charged with multiple counts of necromancy and witchcraft. Because Leonardo was such a crucial member to society, the Pope, Leo X, ordered Leonardo to cease his anatomical research. Although Leonardos career of anatomy ended, his notes and drawings of his anatomical research were passed along and are still used today.Although Leonardo never published any of his work, there is a large amount of leaven that he discovered everything he was credited for. If not for his extensive journaling and note taking, there would be almost no evidence of Leonardo Da Vincis success. By writing down all of his thoughts and studies, he compiled multiple notebooks and journals. Some journals consist ed of 13,000 pages. Almost everything he ever thought was recorded in those notes. Those thoughts range from babies to helicopters, and everything in-between.When Leonardo Da Vinci fled to Venice because of the invading French, he was employed as the head Military Engineer. In Venice, he made multiple inventions to protect the city walls and to scale the city walls. Along with war machines, like the military tank that he invented, Leonardo also invented an assortment of musical instruments, a steam powered cannon, finned mortar shells to increase accuracy, and newcomer mechanisms. Leonardo Da Vinci was fascinated by the flight of birds and tried to recreate flight. Leonardo tried to recreate flight by using man-powered flying contraptions, gliders, and helicopters. In most of his inventions, Leonardo used pulleys, gears, and springs to accomplish the impossible. To power many of his inventions, Leonardo used the water wheel in flowing water. Leonardo not nevertheless made inventio ns for flight but also inventions to accomplish tasks in the water. Da Vinci invented the life preserver, an unsinkable ship, at the time, with two hulls, ways to sink ships from underwater, shoes to walkway on water, and a device to breathe underwater. In 1478, Leonardo and his master Verrocchio jointly painted the Baptism of Christ. This painting is known worldwide for its beauty, lifelike figures, and stunning background. In the 1480s, Da Vinci started three paintings, but only finished one. Leonardo Da Vinci entered a depression in the 1480s which caused him to not finish the two other paintings. In 1498, Leonardo finished The Last Supper which depicted Jesus Christ and His disciples having His last meal before being crucified by Pontius Pilate. The Last Supper was and still is an incredibly famous painting, but because Leonardo used his own mix of paint, instead of the normal fresco paint, the painting quickly deteriorated but is still visible. Along with The Last Supper, in 15 07 Leonardo finished Mona Lisa, which is another world famous painting. Because he used the fresco paint, the painting is still well preserved.Without Leonardo Da Vinci, the modern world would be much changed. Through his extensive research and studies, Leonardo has provided modern day with new medical studies based off of his. Leonardos well written and careworn notes and journals are still being analyzed and being applied to modern medicine, while his beautiful paintings provide an insight into the culture of the Renaissance time period. In all, Leonardo Da Vinci has proven himself, time and again, that he is a genius.

Developing Gross And Fine Motor Skills Young People Essay
Developing Gross And Fine Motor Skills Young People EssayThe role of the preschool in the ruinment of a child is very important. Preschool education provides basic literacy to prepare children for higher levels of study. It besides gives training to prepare them for the challenges of life. In particular, it is in the preschool that children learn and purify their repulse skills. Teachers tactical manoeuvre a signifi green goddesst factor in developing and refining these skills. Also, the school is expected to provide enough opportunities and tools for harnessing such skills. In this paper, we converse the role of the teacher and the school in developing staring(a) and charming move skills of young children.Gross motor are broad movements that involve gigantic muscle groups (Mauro, n.d.) charm fine motor are movements produced by the bodys small muscle groups. Gross motor activities include walking, confineing, kicking, crawling, climbing stairs, etc. Meanwhile, fine motor skills include writing, drawing, cutting or folding paper, etc. Both require coordination of the body functions such as the brain, eyes, and the muscle responsible to produce the movement (i.e., feed muscles for writing). In efficacy to perform motor tasks with precision may mean a disability. Therefore, it is important to observe the child closely when undertaking activities requiring motor skills. As a child grows, certain motor abilities develop. For instance, a two-year old child holds a pen diversely from a three or four-year old child. Likewise, a toddler may be unable to hold onto monkey bars while a seven-year old may find it easy to do so. Still, a nursery child will draw a human figure with incomplete features, while a kindergarten who is aware of the body parts may be able to produce a better representation of the actual figure. Given this, it is important to help develop the motor development of a child to suspend delays and identify disability in advance, if any. Par ticularly, teachers in the preschool should provide activities to make children develop the right skills they need to perform bigger tasks in the future. These activities should include both gross and fine motor activities.Arnheim Pestolesi (1978) provide indicators of average motor development in children 48 months to five years. These indicators imply that with only a four-month difference, normal children can develop additional gross motor abilities. For example, a two-year old child can hop two times on one foot while a child four months older can hop four times on one foot. Likewise, a three-year old child can jump from a small step with both feet while a two-year old can do so but with asynchronous feet. In footing of fine motor skills, children show development in fine motor as they age. Particularly in writing, toddlers and children out of school exhibit the so-called turn grasp with the fist holding the pen while nursery students may have the pronate grasp with the pen b etween the middle and ring fingers. Meanwhile, a kindergarten student may show the dynamic tripod, which is the way most people, even adults, hold a pen. Considering this, it is important for every teacher to provide activities and monitor students motor skills, because a delay in fine motor could mean a disability.Several activities should be included in the pre-school curriculum to enhance gross and fine motor skills. For gross motor skills, school activities could include hopping, jumping, walking, running, kicking, skipping, crawling, rolling, pushing and pulling and catching. Holecko (n.d.) suggest freestyle activities or dancing to the tune of childrens songs such as Im a bantam Teapot or Wheels on a Bus. Aside from improving gross motor, these activities bring an atmosphere of fun and camaraderie among children. Moreover, playing games that involve gross motor activities overly brings excitement and makes children develop sportsmanship. Furthermore, pretend plays such as im itating movements of animals, things and people allow students to exhibit gross motor, and creativity.Meanwhile, fine motor ability, which includes writing, drawing, sculpting, tying knots, folding and cutting paper, etc should withal be given proper attention in the pre-school curriculum. Learners who exhibit inability in such activities should be noted and subject to further observation by the teacher and if possible, by the counselor. Children found to have evidence of disability in either gross or motor skills should be referred at once to the pertinent authority for proper intervention. Considering this, it is important to know some standards set as regards developing motor skills in the pre-school classroom. The National Network for Child Care, a hidden organization, has developed the Early Childhood Education Rating Scale, otherwise known as ECERS (Harms Clifford, 1980). This is a set of standards which includes important requirements to look for in a preschool, including billet and furnishings, personal care routines, listening and talking, program structure, etc. This scale provides relevant information to both administrators and parents on what to look for in a preschool in as much as developing motor skills is concerned. In particular, it specifies the tools and equipment needed to enhance fine and gross motor skills. A highly equipped pre-school will likely develop motor skills more comprehensively than an unprepared environment. Therefore, it is important to note which tools and equipment should be present in a pre-school.The tools and instruments that ECERS recommends to develop gross motor ability include building blocks, sand and water boxes, balls, and playground equipment. All these should vary in colors to make them look attractive. They should also come in different sizes to provide allowance for betterment of skills. For example, younger children can play with smaller balls and put up lesser number of building blocks while bigger chil dren can do otherwise. In any case, the school should provide a variety of resources for different kinds of children. For developing fine motor skills, schools should ensure they cover for the childs needs to fare fine motor and hand-eye coordination. Activities such as clay-molding, writing, drawing, playing simple musical instruments, and tying a knot are only some of the activities that help improve fine motor skills. Relevantly, writing, drawing and musical instruments, clay, and utensils should also be in place. Importantly, the preschool program should include the proper use of utensils when eating. As schools serve as the stand by home, so they should learn the proper way of holding utensils for eating. The development a childs motor skills may come naturally. It can occur even without the teachers intervention. Nevertheless, the pre-school teachers and school programs play a major role in harnessing and refining these skills. Teachers serve as the guide to check whether chil dren are exhibiting safe and proper motor practice. They are also the record keeper to the childs progress or disability. Meanwhile, pre-school programs and tools also help enrich the childs motor skills by aiding practice of such skills. Together, these factors harness childrens ability to perform functions, indeed preparing them for greater challenges in the primary level and later in the adult life.

Why Dont Girls Choose Science :: essays papers
Why Dont Girls Choose ScienceIssues Essay Why Dont Girls Choose Science? In South Australia in 1983 less than one-third of students studying physics at matriculation level were girls (Robottom, 1986). Sixteen years later, in 1999, girls still only do up 35% of students studying physics at the matriculation level (SSABSA, 1999). Despite all the advances for women in modern society it seems that there is still an put under of concern in that of girls participation and achievement in comprehension. Adamson, Foster, Roark & Reed (1998) suggests that the gender gap in science appears to widen with development so much so that there is concern that women are being underrepresented in some science fields. It is suggested that due to the role science and technology plays in all of our lives today it is not only a concern that women are limiting their public life options, but also that they are not getting the opportunity to take part in the planning and decision-making processes th at occur in areas which affect all citizens (Johnston, 1984). Indeed, Andre, Whigham, Hendrickson & Chambers (1999), have found that secondary school girls have lower persistence and enrolment in the physical science pipeline, which of course leads to women having lower participation in physical science careers.Recently OBrien, Martinez-Pons & Kopala (1999) reported that gender could directly predict students career interests in the science and engineering fields, leaving no question as to whether gender was an issue when choosing science subject. It is thought that the critical moment for girls arises when they have a choice as to whether to do science or not (Robottom, 1986) and it is at this point the gender differences really become noticeable. Studies have revealed that girls were choosing to do language, arts or biology, whereas boys were choosing to do physical science courses (Farenga & Joyce, 1999) and it seems that there is no biological basis that can account for this low achievement and representation of girls in physical science (Johnston, 1984).This viewed in the light of the fact that it has been shown that the school plays a major role in the performance and attitudes of girls to science (Johnston, 1984) must prompt all teachers to examine what they may be doing to contribute to this problem and what they may be able to do to encourage girls to become involved in science, particularly the physical sciences.
